The European Badminton Championships: The Finals
With five European titles at stake, England have high hopes of their three Doubles partnerships.

The Image of Our Choice
Thirty Years of Independence
It is barely 30 years since the last British troops left a newly Independent India and ended 300 years of British presence there.
James Cameron , who has spent much time in India both before and since Independence, looks at the films that the BBC has made there since 1948. They reflect the problems and changes that India has faced in this time but they also show our own particular picture of India as a country of Maharajas, mystics, hippies, temples, poverty, over-population, Mrs Gandhi and steam trains. That is the image of our choice.
The Indian film-makers, in contrast, were concerned with industry and development. Together these films give a picture of India in the 30 years of Independence.
