The last of 13 programmes The Football Coach
He punches photographers, attacks referees, curses and pummels his players. He has even blacked his own eyes, while in a rage. He's the most colourful figure in American sport today. Woody Hayes is coach to the Ohio State University football team, The Buckeyes. He believes in only one thing - winning. College football, in America today, is big business and one of the most dramatic aspects of the American sporting scene. Top teams, like The Buckeyes, pack stadiums wherever they play and are followed by millions on television. And the key figure in these contests between American gladiators is the coach, the man who, in order to survive, must drive each year's team to victory.
WOODY HAYES may be a man of tyrannical rages, but he still produces winning teams and puts more players into pro-football than any other single college. He works a seven-day week. 52 weeks a year. Football is his life. He's 65 now and no one can really believe he will ever retire.

' The Ukraine is one of the largest but least known countries in Europe. For over 30 years 40,000 Ukrainians have preserved their culture and their traditions as exiles in Britain.
' This programme introduces a community which determinedly retains its national identity, whilst its homeland experiences continuous repression and Russification.'

The European Badminton Championships
The Team Finals
England v Denmark
Sweden v The Netherlands
Denmark, the current European champions, won their title two years ago by the smallest possible margin when the adjudicators had to count the total number of points scored in the competition. England were the unlucky runners-up. This time Denmark and England are again expected to contest the Final, and the result could again depend on every point scored.
Introduced by David Vine from the Guild Hall, Preston.
Commentator RODDY MACCRIMMON
