Geoff Hamilton and Clay Jones visit Percy Thrower's garden at the Magnolias, Shrewsbury.

It was in 1957 that the young Percy Thrower first came to our screens as the television gardener. Thirty six years later he is still gardening and stimulating viewers with his enthusiasm on the children's programme Blue Peter.

In 1963 the Magnolias was developed from a bare field and viewers of both Gardening Club and Gardeners' World watched as the garden developed.
Today the garden is mature.
