from Zolder
The pace and noise levels are upped slightly. Red and white here mean the McLarens of NIKI LAUDA and ALAIN PROST , on a hat-trick for the Ron Dennis TAG team after their quick one-two in South Africa. Supposing it matters, it begs the question of who, if either, is team leader. No doubt about the Frenchman's position in the championship so far - he is clear by six. Our team is MURRAY WALKER and JAMES HUNT , and they agree on practically everything!

The Embassy
World Professional Snooker Championship from the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield
It must be of great comfort to the organisers that rain cannot stop play here. If it does at the cricket, then this should be our second visit to the Crucible. HIGGINS, WHITE, KNOWLES and THORBURN were the top four in the original batting order, but it's a funny game, snooker.

An Artist in Ireland
'People sometimes wonder whether I'm an English painter or an Irish painter. I was born in England and I lived in England for many years. I've lived in Ireland for 30 years, which is nearly half my lifetime. The fact is that I paint and that's all that matters to me.'
Derek Hill lives in County Donegal, one of the loveliest counties in Ireland. His home is an old rectory overlooking Gartan Lough. Summers are spent in a hut on Tory, a remote and windswept island 12 miles offshore in the Atlantic. Derek Hill is closely associated with the fortunes of Tory and with the work of its primitive painters.
