Fighting for Derry
In a boxing gym in the heart of a city that's better known for street violence, Charlie Nash trains to defend his European Lightweight title. Alongside him 15-year-old Paul Burke plans his first steps up the same ladder that's taken Charlie from Londonderry s Creggan Estate to within a hair s breadth of the world title. For a boy who's only known The Troubles, 'The Ring' offers a different kind of fighting.

The quiet countryside around the small market town of Selby in North Yorkshire will soon be the setting for the newest and richest coalfield in Europe. Twenty miles away, in the old pit villages of West Yorkshire, hundreds of miners brace themselves for the mass migration to a new environment. As the miners prepare to move and country folk await their arrival, problems are posed for both communities.
