starring Van Heflin , Patricia Neal Two delightful comedy romances taking a lighthearted view of American fatherhood - each film directed by one of Hollywood's greatest directors. In the first a widow and widower meet while sending their children on holiday. Complications soon abound and the film takes an opportunity for gentle satire at the expense of summer camps and health fanatics.

Narrated by David Attenborough
In this eight-part series, DAVID attenborough goes to Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam and India; countries where the world's most ancient religions and art-forms have miraculously survived into the 20th century, and where today they persist with strengthened vitality as an indispensable part of daily life. 1: The World of Shadows
In remote corners of Indonesia's vast archipelago of 13,000 islands, the ' Ancient Peoples ' maintain a belief in the spirits of nature and the ghosts of their ancestors, whom they strive to please with sacrificial rights and the erection of megaliths - finely tapered obelisks, massive stone slabs, and enormous stone tables and chairs - seats for spirits of the dead.
... a captirafina story, marvellously filmed. (THE GUARDIAN) Research

Sixth of ten programmes La clemenza di Tito Sung in the original Italian with English sub-titles
The story concerns the benevolence of the Roman Emperor Titus who is surrounded by plots but forgives all his enemies - an appropriate theme for a coronation opera just two years after the French Revolution. The opera was a success in its own time but was later neglected, despite the fact that it contains some of Mozart's most gravely beautiful arias and ensembles. The form of the opera may have been old-fashioned with women singing two of the principal male roles, but Mozart breathed into the conventional structure of opera seria new vitality and humanity.
Jean-Pierre Ponnelle 's spectacular new film production was made on location in Rome at the Forum and the Baths of Caracalla.

Cat People
starring Simone Simon, Kent Smith, Tom Conway, Jane Randolph
The first of two vintage classics, Cat People, directed by Jacques Tourneur and produced by Val Lewton, is a gem of dark suggestion and ominous, unknown fears. Oliver, a young New York draughtsman, falls in love with Irena, a Serbian-born fashion model, whom he meets at the Central Park zoo. But Irena is haunted by a mythical past of occult and bestial worship which threatens whoever may love her with certain death and destruction...

Mystery of the Wax Museum
starring Lionel Atwill, Fay Wray, Glenda Farrell, Frank McHugh
The second of tonight's classics is the unique original of an often re-told tale, filmed in the then new process of two-colour Technicolor. Lionel Atwill stars as the deranged wax works' sculptor who exhibits the wax coated bodies of murder victims to the unsuspecting public. Fay Wray , of King Kong fame, is the suitably terrified object of his insane obsession. A masterly film denounced by the New York Times in 1933 as being 'too ghastly for comfort'.
