4: The Duke of Beaufort,Master of the Horse
Master of the Horse is the third most important office of the Royal Household, after the Lord Steward and the Lord Chamberlain. The tenth Duke of Beaufort follows in a family tradition founded by the fourth Earl of Worcester, Master of the Horse to Queen Elizabeth I and King James I and ancestor of the Beaufort family. The Duke has held office for over 40 years, longer than any previous Master of the Horse. In his 77th year he is still very active, following his passion for hunting and hounds for five days a week in the season, but still finding time to fulfil testing ceremonial duties, particularly in Silver Jubilee Year.

Will Hay's famous music-hall character of the bumbling schoolmaster was used to great effect by Ealing Studios in an ironic comedy. It was a time when German soldiers were still portrayed as incompetent and ridiculous - although the situation in Europe was far from funny, as the news-reel reminds us.

Church and Chapel and the British Written and narrated by Mark Girouard
Churches and chapels offered a way to Heaven. But though their main concern was with the next world they affected every aspect of this one. They tell us not only about theology but about life and politics and money. Today, many have been destroyed or abandoned and an important exhibition ' Change and Decay' opens this week at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
In this film, MARK GIROUARD pushes open the doors of some of the most beautiful and some of the most odd. He visits Cirencester, Whitby, Lewes, Badminton, Oxford and London and shows how church and chapel not only echoed the changing patterns of British society but themselves changed Britain.
