2 :The Landlord and the Pub
For many people the mosft desirable way of earning a living that there could possibly be is to run a nice little pub. There are scores of applications for every vacant tenancy. But over the past 20 years pubs have changed both for the people who use them and for the ones who run them.
What kind of life is it for the lucky few who do get the pub of their dreams? How much of the business can they really call their own? What kind of living can they expect to make? Are they able to deal With violence, the underage drinking, the alcoholism, the good customer holding his car keys who they know has had a little too much? Will their lovely little pub turn out to be a goldmine, a treadmill or a nightmare?
