Tales of the Twenties
Sholokhov wrote this short story from his experiences in the Civil War. It tells of a family divided by doctrines and ideals. An eleven-year-old boy is torn between his father, whose loyalties are with the Don Cossacks, and his older brother who joins the Red Army. The Youngest Comrade becomes a pawn in a world that places no value on human life.
