from Barnsdale with Geoff Hamilton Anne Swithinbank and Pippa Greenwood. The new rose garden at Barnsdale is ready for planting. Shrub-rose expert Peter Beales plants varieties which are ideal for the small garden. In any newly-designed garden, the paving looks very hard and bare, so Geoff Hamilton shows ways of softening the edges with herbaceous plants.
Plus Anne Swithinbank with houseplant advice and more plant disease prevention with Pippa Greenwood.

'An intolerable evil', the UN has branded it. They estimate that 100 million underage children work in the world today. It is probably twice that. They sweat in the fields of Malaysia and Mexico, slave in the factories of Turkey and Bangladesh and prostitute themselves to foreign tourists in the Philippines and Brazil. They are the innocent victims of an economic order in which we in the West rely on their labour for cheap commodities and goods. Tourists to the Third World treat them as throwaway items. The film hears from children working around the world and ends with an apocalyptic view from a New York priest: 'As inescapably as night follows day, hedonism follows materialism. We seek our own satisfactions.... very often at the expense of children.' Narrator Josette Simon
