starring Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift
Arthur Miller's powerful drama, written specially for his then wife
Marilyn Monroe, is set in the garish environment of Reno. An ageing cowboy drifts into the company of three other misfits - a rodeo rider, a mechanic and a showgirl - each in search of a meaning to their lives.
Marilyn Monroe in her last completed picture gives a deeply moving and sensitive performance. Also appearing in his last film, Clark Gable, 'the king' of Hollywood, gives one of the finest performances of his career.

Touch the Earth
Choreography
ROSEMARY BUTCHER
Music MICHAEL NYMAN
Installation DIETER PIETSCH
Rosemary Butcher is a leading figure in the new generation of choreographers working in Britain, and Touch the Earth one of the most important of her recent works. In it she explores the ideas of rite and ritual, the possession of land and being expelled from that land.
Michael Nyman - composer of film scores for film-maker
Peter Greenway - has written a wonderfully evocative score.
Sculptor Dieter Pietsch has designed a simple setting that, when seen in the empty warehouse where the dance was recorded, adds to the sense of loneliness and sadness that is the core of this dance work.

Film director Mike Hodges introduces the Taviani Brothers' acclaimed masterpiece. Kaos starring
Omero Antonutti
Margarita Lozano
The Taviani brothers' visually stunning Kaos brings to life four of Luigi Pirandello's short stories. Tales of love, sorrow and laughter, shaded by superstition and gentle irony and dominated by the harsh landscapes of Sicily, lead to an imagined episode in the writer's own life.
Pirandello was born in Sicily near the forest of Cavusu, the dialect corruption of the Greek word kaos. 1: The Other Son 2: Moonsickness 3: The Jar 4: Requiem 5: Conversing with Mother
Freely adapted from the short stories of LUIGI PIRANDELLO
