with Angela Rippon
A tour of the West Country From Cherhill to Devizes On this visit to Wiltshire, Angela finds out how a brewery makes beer and tries her hand as a blacksmith. She also discovers several curiosities: a painting of a naked highwayman; a statue depicting pigs; a plaque that tells the amazing story of how a woman died; and a pond that, tradition says, gave rise to the term 'moonraker'.

A weekly report on the world of education with Linda Alexander and Martin Young

Few issues in education raise quite as much heat as the question of testing, particularly testing children as young as 7. The government's task group, set up to look at assessment and testing, has proposed a sophisticated system of ten achievement levels designed to get away from the idea of 'passing' or 'failing'. But can this new system be made to work in both secondary and primary schools, and what will it actually mean for the pupils in the classroom?

Presented by David Jessel and Sue Cook
Aiding and abetting a criminal act is against the law. So is conspiring to pervert the course of justice. But many insurance policies let convicted drink-drivers claim money to cover taxis and chauffeurs.
It's a considerable compensation for losing a licence, but is it legal?
Government lawyers must now decide whether such insurance policies should be outlawed on the grounds that they constitute inducements to commit crime.

The Great North Road with Lucinda Lambton
The Great North Road is the backbone of Britain, linking London to Edinburgh. Lucinda Lambton was brought up in Durham, within sight of it. 'I've charged up and down this road all my life,' she says, 'always with a zinging feeling of anticipation.'
Now she's off north again in search of the unexpected.
The delights she's discovered include a calico grotto in a London kitchen, a lost domain in Yorkshire, a richly-panelled hotel saloon with an unexpected past.... And then there are the Everly Brothers from Nashville, Tennessee. Lucinda met them on another journey north when she was just 17 ... Photography MARTIN PATMORE
