Good to Go
For the last programme in the current series Ebony presents top go-go band Trouble Funk in concert from the Town and Country Club.
Go-go is the latest American sound though its origins go back to Washington DC in the 1960s.
'From the inner city, from the ghetto,' says go-go veteran
Maxx Kidd , 'the kids wanted to do something with music but they couldn't afford all the sophisticated electronic instruments. So they started creating it from the playground, from garages, from the alley. Anything from a trash can to a pop bottle, and it was almost as if we were going back to Africa.' Twenty years on, the sound is more sophisticated but it's still community music and the audience are just as much a part of the music as the musicians.

Cecil Collins - Fools and Angels Cecil Collins is a visionary artist who has followed a lonely path outside mainstream modern art and its fads and fashions. His vision is now increasingly recognised, especially by many of the younger generation on whom his work has made a deep impression. Collins believes the sacred purpose of the artist is to remind mankind of a world above and beyond our everyday preoccupations. He paints images of the paradise he feels people have lost in a blind drive for technological mastery over nature.
'Living with a vision is very difficult, but living without a vision is worse.'
