Chief Hubert Ogunde , impresario extraordinary and Nigeria's most popular playwright and entertainer, has always had the happy knack of knowing the mood of his people in this oil-rich, fast-changing country.
' I didn't go to university and I thank God I didn't, because I might have been exposed to a classical way of doing things that cut me off from my roots.'
Today, at the age of 62, with irrepressible energy and characteristic good business sense, he has embarked on a new career, as a film maker.
At the same time he remains the traditional African patriarch, running his travelling theatre company, which is staffed and managed by his many wives. How many is not a question one asks in African society. ' Let us say more than ten,' Ogunde laughingly answers the persistent reporter.

Forty years ago to the day, 7 September 1940, Hurricanes of 257 Squadron took off from Martlesham Heath, Suffolk, to intercept a wave of Luftwaffe bombers over the Thames Estuary. Among those lost in the engagement that followed was ' A ' Flight commander, Fl-Lt H. R. A. Beresford. No one saw him shot down and his body and aircraft were not recovered. He was posted as ' missing
But in September 1979 a group of enthusiasts in Second World War military aircraft, located beneath the mud of the Isle of Sheppey what they believed to be the wreckage of a fighter ... This documentary pieces together the story of Beresford's last mission.

This remarkable film follows the fate and misfortunes of three prisoners who abscond from a Mississippi farm penitentiary. With the 1930s depression at its height, they revert to crime, robbing banks and eventually committing murder. Almost inexorably, circumstances, the law and their own differing natures create a stranglehold on their lives and emotions.
Carradine and Duvall are outstanding as the gentle and doomed lovers whose affair forms the central theme and leads to one of the most memorable and terrifying climaxes in the history of the movies.
