At many of the air shows up and down the country this summer, a small autogyro, impeccably flown by a retired RAF Wing Commander, Ken Wallis , delighted the crowds. Air shows apart, a Wallis autogyro has been used as a fighter, ' flown ' by 007 himself, in the film You Only Live Twice. The fighting Wallis is known as Little Nellie and is one of a number of specialised autogyros designed and built at Reymerston Hall, Norfolk, where the Wing Commander lives and works.
The development of the Wallis machines from a wartime U-boat observation kite is a fascinating story, yet it forms only part of the unusual Wallis collection of flying machines.

Bath v Leicester
A tough start to the season for two of the top clubs in English rugby. Leicester, in their centenary season, and holders for the last two years of the club championship, are led by British Lion Peter Wheeler, as well as having six other English internationals to call upon. Bath, with the guiding hand of English fly-half John Horton behind the scrum, had many notable victories last season, particularly in Wales, and will be hoping to start this season with a flourish. Three sisters live in a decaying mansion in the Ireland of the 30s. The arrival of a German student to rent the back lodge begins a subtle invasion of their private world.
Bravura acting in an astonishing production. (SUNDAY TIMES) The name of the director, David Jones , should be conjoined forthwith to that of the dramatist; it is many moons since we have seen so perfect a marriage of word and image, thought and action, of a subtle idea and its no less subtle realisation. Despite his corrupt political connections, gangster Tommy Gordon is finally tried and sent to prison. When the sympathetic warden allows him out to visit his dying girlfriend, Tommy gets involved in a murder for which he takes the blame. This prison drama is an excellent remake of the classic 20,000 Years in Sing Sing, based on the book by the warden of America's infamous penitentiary.
