Last of five films in which Welsh-men recall the Spanish Civil War. In the Jails of the General
One volunteer was under sentence of death, another was Franco's prisoner in a monastery built by El Cid. How did they survive? When they got home many had to go back on the dole. Some wanted to blot the memory of Spain from their lives. All knew they had lived through the shape of future times. Narrated by RENÉ CUTFORTH

A Ripe Old Age
It's hard not to smile, but affectionately, when his name is mentioned, because Arthur Askey has been making Britain laugh for more than half a century.
Long before he became nationally famous in the first regular BBC radio series. Band Waggon, with Richard Murdoch , he was building a reputation in touring and summer seaside companies, and, of course, panto.
Show business has been his life and his consuming interest, and making people laugh gives him his greatest pleasure. Not age or illness or accident can keep him long off the boards. But with a modesty rare in showbiz, the man who was among the first to master the new techniques of radio and television tells Robbie that he can't understand why he is still in demand when today's comedians are so much more talented than the old hands.

Winner of the 1980 Royal Television Society Regional Programme Award, this film features former Sergeant Pilot Jack Currie. It evokes the excitement and tension he once knew as the captain of a Lancaster bomber in the Second World War when one of the greatest air battles in history was fought from England's quietest county - Lincolnshire.

Lewis Duncan's reputation is as a best-selling writer of tough he-man thrillers. But Lewis is actually a life-long homosexual and when he rashly contributes an article to a gay magazine, it looks as though he may be forced to declare himself.
