There have always been regugees and, sadly, there always will be - today the numbers have increased to a staggering 12 million: Vietnamese boat people, Kampucheans, Afghans, Cubans, Africans from every part of the continent.
This programme focuses on Somalia in the Horn of Africa, where more than a million have sought refuge from a savage war in the Ogaden, creating the world's most serious but least-reported refugee problem.
Drought and famine already threaten Somalia's population. An avalanche of refugees makes catastrophe inevitable.
