Tonight's love story is one that broke all the rules. In the forbidding grandeur of the Vatican, a queen declares her love for a cardinal.
Since she was a child, Christina has been drilled in her duties as Queen of Sweden, and since she was a child no one has ever loved her. At the age of 29, she renounces her throne and her religion and flees to the Pope. There she finds not the welcome she expected, but an inquisition. And as a sceptical Cardinal Azzolino wrests secrets from her soul, Christina discovers love.
