Treasure Island
Men talk of their time there as if it should merit a campaign medal. It's a plug of salt-sand 100 miles out in the Persian Gulf, almost buried beneath the towers, tanks and tubes of one of the most complex and potentially dangerous industrial plants ever built. It's called Das Island.
The Sheikh of Abu Dhabi owns it now, and the orders are to put an Arab into every job. The plant being what it is, that's an explosive prospect. Meantime, the British ' commute ' from the UK, counting the days and counting the money.
