Investigates, Discovers, Questions This week:
Defeat or Triumph?
When the workers take over a factory to run it themselves the conventions have to be rewritten; no boss and no 'them' and ' us ', everyone is in it together. Can it work? Who gives the orders and who takes them?
Co-operatives may work in some countries, but in Britain all but one have collapsed - why? Now even that one-it makes the Triumph Bonneville motorcycle at Meriden - carries a massive debt and is under threat of bankruptcy and liquidation.
Man Alive' filmed the beginning five years ago, when a handful of workers picketed and refused to allow the closure If Meriden is now allowed to die, it would be the end of a motorcycle legend. The workers must find, in just a few weeks, a rescuing partner.
Harold Williamson follows that search and finds out what brought them to this last-ditch fight for an ideal and an industry.

Widnes v Swinton
The 1979 BBC2 Floodlit Rugby League Trophy competition begins with a first-round match between Challenge Cup and Floodlit Trophy holders, Widnes and second division Swinton.
On paper Widnes should have a relatively easy passage into the next round, but upsets often happen in cup ties.
Swinton have strengthened their side considerably by signing DAVID WATKINS. Welsh international and ex-Salford star, and expect to put up a fight against Widnes's strong opposition.
Highlights of the match played earlier this evening at Naughton Park. Introduced by RICHARD DI CKENFIELD
