If you're in Los Angeles, and you want to gamble in Las Vegas, you have to cross 450 miles of Mojave Desert. For many, the Mojave is simply a desert to cross. But for REYNER BANHAM, the writer and architectural historian, the desert is a place to linger in and enjoy. In this film, we get a chance to linger and enjoy that 450-mile desert crossing with him, and to meet some of the strange characters who have made the desert their home. And above all, we get a chance to see why many people regard the Mojave Desert as the most beautiful place in the world.
