by Michael Ayrton
The subject of mirrors fascinated
MICHAEL AYRTON , the sculptor, artist and writer. Shortly before his death last November he completed the scripts for a television series, which he was to have presented, on mirrors and reflections in painting, archaeology, history, myth, science and nature.
This programme is an attempt to capture some of the richness of that series that Ayrton did not live to make. It combines extracts from Ayrton's scripts, presented by HUGH BURDEN, with illustrations ranging from his own reflective sculptures to the destruction of mirror symmetries in particle physics.
Some of Ayrton's friends comment in the programme on what Michael Ayrton and his mirrors meant to them.
