Arctic Doctor
A journey by dog sledge with Dr Alex Williams and his Eskimo friend Enaviapik Narrator DUNCAN CARSE
DR williams's ' practice' covers a quarter of a million square miles of the Canadian Arctic. When he goes on his rounds to the more northerly Eskimo settlements, he likes best to travel the traditional way - by dog team.
This is the story of such a journey -the 200 miles from Pond Inlet to Arctic Bay. It's a journey that means building your own igloo each night and enduring temperatures down to 80 degrees below zero, when human flesh freezes in less than a minute. But it's also a chance to travel in a harsh but very beautiful land - and meet a warm and gentle people - the Eskimoes of the Canadian Arctic.
