What do an 18th-century music party, a Rubens landscape and a wrought-iron staircase redeemed from the scrap-heap have in common?
They are just three of the many remarkable exhibits in London's Wallace Collection chosen as personal favourites by the art historian Kenneth Clark , Francis Watson (until recently the Director of the Collection) and a group of regular visitors including a housewife, a journalist, a docker and a sales distributor.
This collection of art treasures was formed over a period of 150 years by an eccentric English family who collected works of art just because they were pleasing. In this film members of the public describe the pleasure they get from wandering round this unique collection which is more like a house than a museum.
