It is appropriate that Salena Jones features in this programme tonight, as it was here at the Ronnie Scott Club that she first drew the attention of the critics which subsequently established her as one of Europe's leading jazz singers.
Accompanying her tonight is a unique musical combination of guitars, harp, and percussion specially written for this programme by her musical director, Keith Mansfield. Incidentally, it is interesting to note that Salena Jones hails from Newport News, Virginia, the birthplace of two other great jazz singers, Ella Fitzgerald and Pearl Bailey.
