A programme for children at home.
Presenters this week, Miranda Connell, Lionel Morton
In the story chair, Charles Leno
Today's story is called "The Horse and The Hat" by Mabel Watts.

"Over in the meadow, in the sand,
Lived an old mother turtle
and Her little turtle one..."
That's part of the poem for this week. In Play School today there are more meadows, and a river made with bits and pieces from the Useful Box. On Tuesday a drum, cymbals, and a mouth-organ are some of the musical instruments Lionel tries to play all at the same time, and then he becomes a one-man band.
There's more band music on Wednesday, when the windows show dancers in a ballroom. On Friday there are spring flowers and blossom, and Lionel and Miranda sing some favourite songs - old and new.

A documentary series that looks at our changing attitudes to the countryside.
With Desmond Hawkins.

Does the richness of village life still exist - and if so will it survive twentieth century pressures? Desmond Hawkins, who lived in the Wiltshire village of Aldbourne twenty years ago (before he joined the BBC to pioneer its natural history programmes), returned last year in the late summer "to see if the old magic was still there". And although the camera also explores the surrounding downs the village is placed firmly in the centre of today's programme, which with the ending of the seasonal cycle and the arrival of harvest time is the last in the series.

For the first time in Britain from as far East of Moscow as London is West.
The Company of over 100 performers at the Royal Albert Hall , London present a variety of songs and dances.
featuring The Omsk Ladies Choir, The Siberian Male Voice Choir, The Dance Ensemble with demonstrations of acrobatic dancing, virtuosity on the spoons, and a lifelike skating Siberian bear.

The ensemble, singing and dancing in the thrilling and highly professional style viewers have come to expect from visiting Russian Companies, bring to their performance a sense of fun and gaiety said to be typical of the Siberian people. Seeing this exciting and colourful spectacle people may start to wonder whether pictures of Siberia as a place of salt mines and bitter cold are altogether accurate. Watch out particularly for the girls in the troupe - the women of the area are said to be the most beautiful in Russia.
The entertainment introduced by Lydia Rusakova and Steve Race.
