A documentary series that looks at our changing attitudes to the countryside.
With Desmond Hawkins.
Does the richness of village life still exist - and if so will it survive twentieth century pressures? Desmond Hawkins, who lived in the Wiltshire village of Aldbourne twenty years ago (before he joined the BBC to pioneer its natural history programmes), returned last year in the late summer "to see if the old magic was still there". And although the camera also explores the surrounding downs the village is placed firmly in the centre of today's programme, which with the ending of the seasonal cycle and the arrival of harvest time is the last in the series.
