In 1648 Heinrich Schutz celebrated the end of the Thirty Years'War and the marriage of his daughter Euphrosina. But peace didn't make life simplerforthe court composer at Dresden, as he became embroiled in local politics involving ambitious rival court musicians. Finally the Elector conceded to the composer's wishes and allowed him to retire.
