Julian Joseph introduces recordings by this highly original alto saxophonist. Konitz was part of the Miles Davis group that recorded the seminal Birth of the Cool album, and he stayed with the trumpeter for several years. His solo career spans over five decades, working with a range of musicians, including Elvin Jones, Albert Mangelsdorff and Bill Frisell.
