Mobsters, detectives and glamorous locations populate the story of a game of cat and mouse between young scientists and the casinos of Las Vegas. A lecturer at America's Massachusetts Institute of Technology worked out that the odds in blackjack work differently to other games. He developed a system that tipped the odds and set off to Vegas with a bankroll from the Mob. But the casinos called science to their aid too.
