8.10 Seeing Salvation: The Promise
Concluding the series exploring how Christ's image has been shaped over 2,000 years.
Neil MacGregor looks at how artists have produced work based on Christ's death, resurrection and promise of eternal salvation. Starting with Dead Christ - a painting of Jesus in the tomb - by Renaissance artist Hans Holbein the Younger, MacGregor examines potent images from around the world that have been inspired by the story of Christ following his death, and discusses the use of Christian imagery with contemporary artists.
