Mears continues his travels to inhospitable places.

Record numbers of tourists will flock to Australia this summer to attend the Olympic games, and many of them will want to venture off the beaten track. Mears tells a cautionary tale of a couple whose hired 4x4 vehicle became stuck in the sand; they tried to walk 40 miles to safety in heat so fierce it melted their shoes.
