Writer William Dalrymple concludes his journey by retracing an epic voyage said to have been undertaken by a saint.
This week Dalrymple follows the route the apostle known as Doubting Thomas was likely to have taken from Palestine, by land from Jerusalem to Elat, then by sea to the Malabar coast of south west India. There St Thomas would have found a thriving, wealthy community of spice-trading Romans and Jews.

Last in the series uncovering the secrets of shipwrecks.

Steve Sargison from Sheffield, a diver and salvage expert turned treasure-hunter, has travelled to the Philippines in the hope of hitting the big time. His quest is to find the Spanish galleon Esperanza, which sank in 1806 carrying a fabulous cargo of gold and other precious items. Money and time are short, and to fund the expedition Sargison elects to look first for a wreck from more recent times: the Kuda Maru, used by the Japanese during the Second World War to transport stolen gold.
