Emma Thompson and Anthony Hopkins missed out this year. But a plasticine cast of creatures kept the British film flag flying when The Wrong Trousers took the only British Oscar at last month's award ceremony. Nick Park's animation, which won the Radio Times Readers' Choice Award at the recent Indie presentations, features amiable inventor Wallace and his dog Gromit, the characters featured in the highly acclaimed Grand Day Out.

In this story the happy homelife of number 62 West Wallaby Street is threatened when a villainous penguin rents out the spare room.
Originally shown at Christmas, The Wrong Trousers was specially commissioned by BBC2 from Aardman Animations.
