Strangeways Prison highlighted overcrowding in Britain's jails. Tonight,
Public Eye examines the medical care available for those falling ill in prison. Doctors in the prison medical service claim it is failing to provide basic care. They fear for those at risk from suicide who, they claim, are left unsupervised for long periods in squalid hospital cells.

A possible nine frames are to be played this evening to decide the man to emerge as would-be world title holder from the bottom half of the draw. His opponent, from the top half, was decided this afternoon. Losing semi-finalists receive F36,000, the losing finalist E72,000 and the winner £120,000.

The tournament is now at the stage where the last two survivors out of 159 players who set out as far back as January bring this epic battle to a close. David Vine looks back on the two semi-finals which were played out to a finish today. and at the men who will be contesting the title over the next two days, covering 35 frames, with the ultimate prize in world snooker for the victor.
Virtuoso pianist
Erroll Garner who died in 1977. was one of the most popular jazz musicians of the 50s and 60s.
Tonight's session, recorded in 1964, has a number of Garner favourites, including his famous Misty which was used for the film Play Misty For Me starring Clint Eastwood.
