A Prescription for Life? Every day in Britain a quarter million people take their fix of a drug which many doctors say is more addictive than heroin. None will be arrested - they're not breaking the law. The drug - a tranquilliser - is prescribed on the NHS. Zeinab Badawi examines disturbing evidence that Government advisers are warning doctors to stop prescribing the drug, yet last year over two million prescriptions were issued. starring Ronnie Corbett with his special guests Hinge and Bracket
Marti Webb and Earl Okin
This programme with its mix of comedy, monologues, sketches and guest appearances is unsuitable for people of a miserable disposition. Indeed certain scenes of uninhibited jollity and full-frontal mirth may prove offensive to the seriously glum.

A Strong Man in Egypt
(Giovanni Belzoni 1778-1823) Presented by David Drew
Giovanni Belzoni was a two-metre-high Italian strongman, who made three remarkable and controversial journeys up the Valley of the Nile between 1815 and 1819. He has been called a plunderer and a robber because of the magnificent collections of Ancient Egyptian artefacts he amassed and sent back to
England. But Belzoni awoke in Europe an interest in Egyptology that has never died.
David Drew travels to the tombs and temples rediscovered by Belzoni: the temple of Rameses II at Abu
Simbel, the temples of Philae, the interior of the Pyramid of Chephren and, still the most spectacular in the whole of Egypt, the tomb of the Pharaoh Seti I - sites which sparked an international war of plunder.

The Rothmans Grand Prix Cliff Thorburn v Steve Newbury
Steve Davis v Jim Wych
Tonight's two matches, to determine the last two for the final 16 places, feature two popular Canadians. Cliff Thorburn will not be underestimating the challenge of Welshman Steve Newbury, who's already seen off Tony Meo to reach this stage of the tournament.
Cliffs fellow Canadian
Jim Wych will surely be entering his match against reigning
World Champion Steve Davis more in hope than expectation.
DAVID VINE introduces highlights of these matches from the Hexagon, Reading.
