Fourth of eight programmes
West Berlin lies deep within East Germany, an island surrounded in part by its infamous wall, occupied by Allied troops - a symbol of East-West relations.
Yet its 24-hour lifestyle and sometimes radical politics act as a beacon to young people from all over Europe.
With the help of cult star Blixa Bargeld, students, former squatters and Mancunian ex-patriate Mark Reeder, who came to Berlin six years ago for a holiday and decided to stay, Red Herrings takes a dip into the West, the wall, and the long, long night.

Fifth of eight programmes on the mammals of Britain.
Red, roe and fallow are all native species of deer. Stalking the 'Monarch of the Glen' in Scotland may be fun but it is not the best or easiest way of seeing a good red stag. Drive through London's Richmond Park, however, and you'll come close to both red and fallow. But to see a roe deer you'll need your wits about you - either that, or a plentiful supply of roses!

A series of seven programmes
Animals have now become the raw material in the mechanised and commercial business of satisfying our need for clothing and meat. In the wild, some are slaughtered to the point of extinction, and down on the farm, chickens, pigs and cows are often kept caged throughout their short lives, causing ill health and environmental damage.
Of course, it doesn't have to be like this, and in some places it isn't.
John Seymour reports from around the world.

From the Mary Rose Ship Hall in Portsmouth

Peter France introduces two stories which throw new light on the life and times of Henry Tudor, who took the throne of England from Richard III 500 years ago.

The first film indicates the problems facing Margaret Rule and her assistant Andrew Fielding as they put back into the hull of the Mary Rose the thousands of timbers and artefacts which have helped to give a picture of the men who manned the guns of the British Navy in the early 16th century.

The second reassesses the life of Henry VII - the king who may well have commissioned the Mary Rose. History still sees him as a grey figure, overshadowed by the personalities both of the defeated Richard III and of his own son and successor, Henry VIII. But, as David Starkey argues, none of the glories of the Tudor dynasty would have been possible without the peace and prosperity which came from his astute control of finance and politics.

A series of films about the way we live now
3. It is the country's busiest ambulance station. The shop-talk is of knifings, suicides ... and the babies that have been delivered.
For ex-nurse Tracie Norris and Richard Rogers , who used to work in a bank, the first week in emergency ambulance Bloomsbury 3 is like an assault-course. Seasoned instructor Don Parsons is on hand, but there is extra pressure on Tracie and Richard, fresh as they are from training-school. They have got new cardiac equipment which brings the London Ambulance Service into line with American-style paramedics.
Meanwhile, newly-qualified Elaine Bennett and Dave Webb battle with the mounting pressures of traffic chaos, the closing of hospital casualty departments - and the increasing threat of violence to ambulance crews, called out to emergencies where they never know what to expect.
