Simply made, it will attract many of the smaller garden animals and allow you to observe undisturbed voles, shrews, mice and, if you're lucky, weasels.
And a bat-box built high up in the eaves may attract the world's only flying mammal. Film editor HUGH TASMAN

Taking to the Streets
The Conservative claim to be the natural party of law and order is under threat. Unsolved crime continues to rise, despite increases in police manpower. An overstretched police force struggles to deal with conflicting priorities.
Communities frustrated by an inadequate police presence are beginning to take the law into their own hands.
Peter Taylor analyses the latest moves to take crime off the streets, and asks politicians, policemen and the community to consider the fine line between being vigilant and becoming a vigilante. If you have strong feelings on the subject, give the production team a ring on [number removed]. Studio director PAUL CAMPBELL
