All over East Anglia there are little Americas, where thousands of servicemen and their families live life very much as they would back in the States. The air base at Mildenhall is one. There the currency is dollars, the postage stamps are Uncle Sam's - and the football comes armour-plated.

A series of seven monthly films exploring the English hedgerow July
The hedgerow in July abounds with insects. Some are obvious - the hover flies and soldier beetles on the banqueting tables of hog-weed, or bumble-bees pollinating foxgloves. Others remain hidden on the leaves and branches of shrubs. David Streeter and Rosamond Richardson investigate this insect activity, and show how to make use of the hedgerow harvest for a July menu.

A series of 13 programmes Written and presented by Robert Kee 4: Famine
Nearly a million men, women and children died in the great potato famine which devasted Ireland between 1845 and 1849. Another million emigrated, mainly to America. The British Government's attempts to help proved largely ineffectual. The seeds were thus sown of a deep and lasting bitterness against the British, which was to have a profound effect on the later development of Irish nationalist feeling.
Through the words of eyewitnesses Famine is an account of this watershed in Irish history.
