England v India from Old Trafford First Day
ENGLAND have an unbeaten record against India at Old Trafford, winning three of the six Tests played in Manchester, and making two big scores in the process. In 1936 they made 571 for 8 (Walter Hammond 167) and more recently, in 1959, totalled 490 (Geoff Pullar 131, Mike Smith 100).
INDIA, on the other hand, suffered one of their heaviest defeats ever in 1952 when they were bowled out for 58 (Fred Trueman 8 for 31) and 82 (Alec Bedser 5 for 27), when losing by an innings and 207 runs.
