Do you own a pet tortoise? Have you ever considered it not as a pet but as a wild animal? In a special report from Yugoslavia Wildtrack looks at the wild tortoise in its proper environment. Did you know. for instance, that tortoises can swim? And that they are not solely vegetarians - they eat meat as well.

A personal view by J. Bronowski in 13 programmes.
12: Generation upon Generation
Strangely, it is the sciences of mathematics and physics that have revolutionised biology in our own century and brought a new precision to our understanding of life.
DR BRONOWSKI follows the story from the quiet experiments of Gregor Mendel to the awesome, and perhaps dangerous, power that our unravelling of the code of inheritance has given us. He argues that we should see sex as the gift that preserves the diversity of human individuality.

Paul Gambaccini and Fran Morrison visit the Greenwich Festival.

This is an area of London rich in royal and maritime associations and the Festival uses the beautiful and historic locations to provide a varied and exciting mix of entertainment...

The programme comes live from the Ranger's House on Blackheath. There is music from the Coull String Quartet, The Maddy Prior Band on board the Cutty Sark, and the reggae band Red Cloud at Woolwich's famous Tramshed. And you can see an extract from Noel Coward's Design for Living starring Maria Aitken and Ian Ogilvy and experience the amazing detail and drama of the sea paintings by the 17th-century Dutch painters, the Van de Veldes, who were the first war artists.

Over a whitebait supper, Benny Green tells stories about Greenwich and the river.

These artists and many more give a flavour of the excitement and talent to be found in towns and cities all over Britain during the summer months.
