The sixth of seven films about the source of human abilities.
The journalist Bernard Levin and Beverley Sadler both suffer from a phobia which they know to be irrational. One prefers to be helped by tablets or by therapy, the other prefers to live with the problem.
Henry, a Rhode Island Red rooster, is hypnotised by the power of the human eye - or the fear of a hawk. Is there any connection? These fears, and others as various as parachuting, stage-fright, and mental arithmetic arouse us both emotionally and physically. Alcohol, and other drugs, can give us dutch courage: but how do the drugs work on the brain, and what do we know about the normal chemistry that they alter? Research into brain chemistry is beginning to explain how and why emotions like fear affect us - and how we can live with them.

featuring motor racing's Formula One World Championship
The Canadian Grand Prix from Montreal

A compact Ile Notre Dame circuit on an island in the St Lawrence River is the setting for today's eighth round in the 1982 Drivers' Championship. Britain's John Watson finished second behind Jacques Lafitte in last year's rain-soaked race and at this halfway stage of the season, another good performance could further enhance his Championship hopes.
