This is the 72nd Waterloo Crown Green Bowling tournament, the acknowledged Cup Final of the game. Two thousand and forty-eight players started on the long trail to today's final, and for the first time in its history the semi-finals and final will be shown live.
The Waterloo is played in all weathers - many viewers will remember the ' water-splash ' final of 1976, played throughout in pouring rain. And, as usual, the event is a sell-out. In this tense atmosphere, the winner will pick up a first prize of £1,500 from total prize money of just over £5,000.
