The Last Right Presented by Eric Robson
Only recently has society accepted that one's life is one's own to dispose of as one wishes. While suicide is no longer a crime it is still a criminal act to assist in another's suicide. A relative performing a last labour of love, a doctor discharging a final duty, both risk prosecution.
Arguments for a change in the law, for the right to die when one is dependent on others, are countered by assertions that such a change would open the way to abuse and that the present 'informal arrangements' are sufficient.
Producer DAVID GEEN
