The John Player League Sussex v Essex
Sussex, badly hit by injury this season, have had to rely on uncapped players, and this will undoubtedly pay dividends in the future. For the moment however the experience of Imran Khan and Arnold Long together with the massive Garth Le Roux must be their main hope for victory today. PETER WALKER introduces the programme, which includes news of today's other fixtures.

A series of seven programmes whieh examine the impact of air travel on ourselves and the world we live in. Presented by Julian Pettifer 4: Conquering the Atlantic
The race to run the first commercial air service over the most prestigious route linking the New World with the Old. With all the business and national rivalries, the ingenuity and strange byproducts and the endless search for the right aircraft, it is in itself the story of civil aviation.
And within the New World itself, great land distances have been conquered, and routes are still being pioneered by modern jets.

Time to Back Britain?
Whether it's Japanese cars, Italian shoes or Hong Kong textiles, the pressure from foreign imports is growing. Nearly a third of the goods we buy in Britain come from abroad. One solution, promoted by companies like BL, is a ' buy British' campaign. Others are demanding stricter import controls.
Peter Hobday and Nick Clarke investigate the new mood of protectionism in a world that is supposed to be moving towards freer trade. How are the Americans reacting? And what about Japan, the trading nation all the others love to hate? Should Britain be finding new ways of looking after herself in a severe world recession?
