Mijbil, Edal and Teko are the otters immortalised in Gavin Maxwell's books. But the man himself was an enigma. On the tenth anniversary of his death this dramatised biography examines Maxwell's life. Poet, portrait painter, naturalist and writer, it was Gavin Maxwell who did so much to gain protection for that shy, elusive, beautiful creature, the otter, and whose books have brought so much happiness to so many people all over the world - but brought tragedy to himself.

The second of two programmes of music by Richard Strauss to mark the 30th anniversary of his death is devoted to the first performance on television of The Legend of Josepii
In 1912 Diaghilev, greatest of all impresarios, commissioned a ballet from the composer Richard Strauss. Working on the scenario with his collaborator Hugo von Hofmannsthal they decided to tell the Old Testament story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife. The ballet was premiered in Paris in 1914, choreographed by Michael Fokine , with Leonide Massine as Joseph, and conducted by Strauss himself.
In this production, the young American choreographer JOHN NEU -MEIER has recreated the ballet for the great American modern dancer Judith Jamison , who plays Potiphar's wife. The role of Joseph is danced by the young American dancer Kevin Haigen. Also taking part with the Ballet of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conductor
