Starring Geory Desmouceaux Philippe Goldmann
Ever since his first, enormously successful film about childhood, Les Quatre Cents Coups, Francois Truffaut expressed the desire to make a film 'about a lot of children' without the limitation of a narrative. Sixteen years later, he had his wish and the resulting film, funny, tender and charming, opens this season of the French director's work. Set in the town of Thiers, where most of the cast was recruited, the loosely-linked episodes illustrate Truffaut's conception of childhood as a state of grace and, at the same time, continuous undercover rebellion.
Blessedly funny... (TIME MAGAZINE) Don't miss (EVENING STANDARD) Extremely enjoyable

Based on a book by a former prison warden, this fast-paced movie is remarkable for its factual atmosphere, especially in the prison scenes. It stars two of Hollywood's greatest stars.
