Today Magnus Magnusson will introduce a colourful ceremony in the Great Hall, where over 950 new graduates will be presented to the Vice-Chancellor of the Open University before an audience of 3,000. After the academic procession, the honorary degree of Doctor of the University will be conferred on Sir Charles Curran , former Director-General of the BBC. who will later reply on behalf of the honorary graduates. Music will be performed by Donald Burrows (organ) and the Brass Ensemble of the Birmingham School of Music conducted by Frank Downes
