A day on the Yorkshire moors, just off the Pennine Way where streams rise in clear springs and vanish again in bottomless ' sinks '. There are hidden worlds of wildlife to be explored in the streams, on the open moors and among the crevices of the limestone pavement.

A film by Karl Francis
Produced by the British Film Institute Productions Board
Gavin Millar introduces the first of two BF1 films.
Above Us the Earth is a ' documentary narrative' about the closure of the Ogilvie Colliery in South Wales, skilfully blending actuality film of the campaign to prevent the closure with the fictional story of a 63-year-old miner retired early and suffering from emphysema. featuring NIEL KINNOCK
MICHAEL FOOT , JOE GORMLEY
MEMBERS OF OGILVIE MINERS' LODGE
(First showing on British television)
What is remarkable about the film is its total involvement with a group who are often either slandered or sentimentalised.
