The Silver in the Furrow
A dazzling exhibition of gold and silver, The Wealth of the Roman World opened -last week at the British Museum.
One of the ' stars' of the exhibition is a silver treasure found in this country only two years ago. Known as the Water Newton hoard, it was found near Peter-borough by an amateur archaeologist and pop singer Alan Holmes. Magnus Magnusson investigates this story of the Silver in the Furrow', the earliest Christian sacramental plate, now restored to its former glory.

Pierre Durois is a maths professor with a talent for writing saucy magazine articles, quite unsuspected by his class of teenage girls or his father, the mayor. When his pupils discover his sideline, Pierre's efforts to protect his family's reputation cause widespread havoc. Getting involved with a Royal film star is not the best way to avoid publicity.

The zany humour of Mike Harding combines with the musical talent of Fivepenny Piece at the Poco-a-Poco Club, Stockport.
Songs from the popular contemporary group include I King Cotton', They Tell us Owt' and the gentle Watercolour Morning.' MIKE HARDING recalls ' Napoleon's Retreat from Wigan,' and tells of Salford's part in the birth of The Blues. Sundry other bits and pieces are thrown in by the man once known as The Rochdale Cowboy.
